“I’m in my 20’s and I’ve lost my mojo. What do I do now?”
It depends on where you are in your life. If you’re in your 20’s there is no law stating that you have decide your future right this minute. If you’ve recently graduated from college perhaps join the Peace Corps or Americares. You will have the experience of your life and through that you may hit upon the right career for you.
The most important point for you right now is to keep an open mind.
Just because you graduated with a degree in communications doesn’t mean you have to work in journalism or PR or even advertising. Every job in every company demands efficient communication. You’re way ahead of other potential candidates for you have that skill under your belt already. My niece graduated from University of Indiana with a degree in journalism and wound up head of industry sales for Groupon. Not bad, right?
Bottom Line
Ask yourself these questions:
What do I like to do? Please don’t say sleep all day and party all night, but if that’s what you do like more than any other activity, then try event planning as a career. You could be the catalyst for revelry.
What was my favorite subject in school? Let’s say you chose history. You might think there is no future for a history buff. Ah, but nowadays you’ll find many opportunities. Museums, libraries, podcasts, historical reenactments company
Am I people person and need lots of stimulations from others, or do I do my best work in a solitary environment? That is an important question for you while you are trying to figure out your future. These are polar opposites. People go to work for a paycheck, true, but they go to work with a spring in their step when they enjoy the people surrounding them.
I will not allow you to engage in self-sabotage. Go forth and conquer.
